Hemmed in by mountains, California's San Joaquin Valley suffers
from some of the worst air pollution in the United States, second only after Los
Angeles in terms of short and long-term particle pollution. This pollution drifts up a narrow
canyon connecting the valley floor to what is thought of as pristine
mountain paradise communities.
Tri-County Watchdogs, a local grassroots organization based in the Frazier Park area, is fighting back for clean air by teaming up with Global Community Monitor to launch a comprehensive air testing program. The first Bucket Brigade training in the community was launched in 2010.
