Study: Area residents breathing highly toxic air ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION AT MAP TA PHUT

Rayong residents living near Map Ta Phut industrial estate are breathing a "cocktail" of cancer-causing toxic chemicals that are 60 to 3,000 times higher than safety standards, according to a recent test by the US-based Global Community Monitor (GCM) environmental group. The substances detected by the group included benzene, vinyl chloride, chloroform, volatile organic chemicals and sulphur compounds, which could also cause birth defects and serious illnesses.
